"Thank you for getting warm reception me this time.I could enjoy myself everyday. We visiting temple, climbing mountain! When I climbed mountain,I was so tired. But all things are my happy memory. And I could experience different culture. For example, foods, school, religion...if anything, I like Malaysia from Japan:) This summer gave me "courage"and"confidence". Thank you so much."

"In my opinion the experience was extremely positive in every aspect; regarding the host families, the people met, the activities and, in general, the whole staying.

I’m asked to underline, in particular, the “negative” aspects, but, I didn’t find any.

The families were really kind and helpful and the time spent “alone” was really short due to the large number of activities.

The camp was funny and the people met are one of the best parts of this experience, too bad that it was just 2 nights long. It would have been very nice to have the chance to go to the beach(however, inside the resort there was a swimming pool). The food, after an initial haziness, was good and very fresh.

The staying in the second city(considered a sort of “countryside”) was extremely funny, also due to the fact that most of activities have been organized with others families, so we always met others YEs almost everyday. Maybe Kuala Lumpur was too big to allow such thing.

I’ve got nothing more to say, except that it was really an amazing experience, that I wish to rejoin in the future!

I think I should underline the great organization of the Kota Bharu Lions Club!

I hope to have the chance to join the Leo Club of my hometown very soon!"

DONATION FOR FIRE VICTIMS

DONATION FOR FIRE VICTIMS
Date : 19th September 2009 (Saturday)
Venue : Kuala Besar
Time : 11.30am

It was a tragedy that 4 wooden houses were burnt down in Raya Eve. All properties of these 4 families were gone in one night. Especially to them who are going to celebrate Hari Raya the next day.

Lion President Lion Yaccob, Leo Advisor – Lion Josh Lim, Lion Kevin Yeap, Lion Benedict Cheang, Lion Chua Yew Beng from Lions Club of Kota Bharu; Leo Jason Lee, Leo Diana Chiok and Leo Sheng Toy Sei from Leo Club of Kota Bharu Central planned to donate some daily utensils, food stuff, old clothing and money to the victims.

It was a meaningful experience for our Leos to be able to interact with the under privilege and show our caring attitude towards the different ethnic. We also realized how lucky we are, to be able to live in a safe homeland.

Life Lessons Across Cultures and Around the World

Each year, the Lions International Youth Camp and Exchange Program introduces young people to life in other cultures by helping them travel abroad. Each Youth Camp and Exchange includes an extended stay hosted by one of our many international clubs.

As a participant, you will:

  • Live with a family in another country.
  • Meet people your age from around the world
  • Learn about the bonds we all share - and the differences we respect in each other no matter where we live.

Youth Camp and Exchange Types

An Exchange can be arranged in hundreds of countries and geographic locations where ther are Lions Clubs. Most Exchanges last between four and six weeks during which the participants (ages 15-21) stay with one or more host families in another country.

Camps are one or two weeks long and bring together young people (ages 16-22) from around the world. Camps usually include a family stay that lasts between one and four weeks. More than 100 Lions Camps are held each year in about 39 countries. Activities include visits to places of cultural or natural interest, sporting events and country presentations by the camp participants.

Pelajar luar negara gembira sertai program pertukaran belia

18/07/2009 - Inauguration of District Governor, Datuk Danny Ooi & Installation of Cabinet Officers 2009-2010

SPEECHES
By YAB TAN SRI MUHYIDDIN HJ MOHD YASSIN
Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia
**********************************************************
18/07/2009 - Inauguration of District Governor, Datuk Danny Ooi & Installation of Cabinet Officers 2009-2010

Y.Bhg. Datuk Danny Ooi
District Governor, Lions Clubs Malaysia District 308-B1

Dr J.P. Kamalanathan
Immediate Past District Governor, Lions Clubs Malaysia District 308-B1

Past District Governors,

Lion Dignitaries,

Lions & Lionesses,

Ladies & Gentlemen

Assalamualaikum wbt and good evening.

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for being invited to this important occasion.

I also would like to extend congratulations to YBhg Datuk Danny Ooi on his inauguration as the District Governor for Lions Clubs International District 308-B1 Malaysia. I also would like to express my heartiest congratulations to the Cabinet Officers on their installation.

I presume that the large number of Cabinet Officers represent the size of the Lions Clubs organization of which is probably the biggest and probably one of the most efficient service organisation in the world.

We must acknowledge that the success story of this is heavily due to the members' strong conviction and commitment to serving the community without expectations of returns or personal gain.

Since the beginning of the Lions Clubs in Malaysia more than 50 years ago, the Lions have outperformed in providing noble and selfless service to the nation in serving the community and rallying to the cause of the needy, underprivileged and less fortunate.

In line with the Government's '1Malaysia' aspiration, the Lions has set positive track record in propelling numerous social community development projects, health and safety awareness campaigns and leadership training programmes that were carried out regardless of race or religion, not only among themselves, but also those they serve.

In materialising the '1Malaysia' aspiration, the Government of Malaysia is ever willing to work together with NGOs like the Lions Clubs. We would like to see more NGOs to fully utilize its members' knowledge, experience and resources to continue to outreach the community by creating and organizing social and community projects that promotes 'unity' amongst the Malaysians.

I know that I am adding more work to the Lions Clubs' existing projects for the new District Governor YBhg. Datuk Danny Ooi and his Cabinet Officers. However, I am very confident that they will also combine forces and pooling their resources with the cooperation and assistance from their fellow Lions.

As part of the '1Malaysia' aspiration too, the Government has been working closely with NGOs in moulding a caring and concerned society. We have to continue to provide assistance for the poor, needy, less fortunate and underprivileged.

As much as the Government has done its part in looking after the needs and the interests of the Rakyat, I am also aware of the Lions who have gone through extra miles in serving the community under various projects such as the setting up of renal centres, eye clinics, autistic centres and many more.

Through their aid and welfare programmes for the poor and needy, without regards to race nor religion, the Lions are also complementing the Government's efforts in realising the success of the poverty eradication programme at the end of the Ninth Malaysia Plan in 2010.

In addition to the above, I would also like to commend the Lions for playing an instrumental role in the fight against global warming and depletion of the ozone layer, with their 'Go Green' campaigns and efforts to create and instil awareness of the conservation of the environment.

As an NGO with more than 50 years experience, the Lions Clubs must also continue developing future leaders for the club and the country. As the Education Minister, I am very happy to note that the Leo programme in schools is helping to cultivate leadership qualities while promoting a culture of excellence amongst its members. The Leo programme eversince it was introduced at schools all over Malaysia has undoubtedly made an impact, and I am confident that it will continue to grow under the Lions' new leadership and guidance.

I trust the Lions Clubs Malaysia District 308-B1 will continue to grow and improve under the strong and able leadership of YBhg. Datuk Danny Ooi.

This is attested by his passion being the founder of the Malaysia Book of Records, the official national keeper of feats and achievements accomplished by Malaysians.

On behalf of the Government, I would like to say a big think you to the Lions and other voluntary non-governmental organisations for their work, efforts, resources and financial contributions without expecting anything in return.

May they continue to keep up the good work and contribute to the cultivation of a caring and concerned society.

Thank you.

Wabillahi taufikwalhidayyah wassalamualaikum wbt.
